Trading Point Description |

|

Rural Trading Points are currently being constructed and to date a number of trading points have been completed. Trading points are constructed from a combination of local as well as traditional building materials. A typical trading point consists of a 45 m2 copra storage facility, a 12 m2 Spaza shop and a copra drying facility.   |  Each trading point directly employs five people from the local community. Indirect employment, based only on the amount of copra currently collected at the points, amounts to 5,000 people per point. The possibility of implementing a rotating health care system whereby a doctor or a nurse visits each point once a week is also currently being investigated.  Completed points have been a great success and are eagerly supported by the local communities.
